Hello, it is very nice to be with you here today. Thank you for visiting the website.
The world health organization defines fibromyalgia as a disease characterized by chronic pain, stiffness and tenderness of muscles, tendons and joints without detectable inflammation. Fibromyalgia does not cause body damage or deformity. However, undue fatigue and chronic pain plagues 90 percent of patients with fibromyalgia and interferes with school, work and activities. Fibromyalgia can be associated with other rheumatic conditions and irritable bowel syndrome. There is no definitive medical test to diagnose fibromyalgia though health professionals use a combination of symptoms to make diagnosis.
Kenya being third world economy, its health care system provides scanty information about fibromyalgia and this has led to massive suffering, stigmatization and marginalization of people living with fibromyalgia. This concern formed the genesis of l’esperance fibromyalgia community based organization with the aim of among other things providing information and creating awareness and medical aid to patients, their relatives and the community at large about fibromyalgia and the syndromic approach to its management to reduce stigma and improve the quality of life of such patients.
Fibromyalgia is a rare type of condition which I believe many people do not know much about, neither what it is nor how it affects people, believe from here you will get the information about it.
I suffered silently for a long time before getting the correct diagnosis and I would not like anyone to go through the same situation I went to, that is also another thing that motivated me to start this organization.
Thank you to the executive committee members who are volunteering their time and committing their resources and talents to serving the Fms community.
Please join me to create the best community that advocates and supports the needs of the fibromyalgiacs and chronic pain illness community. Thank you
President L’esperance Fibromyalgia Organization.
